The UAE government issued a Federal Decree-Law on Child Digital Safety establishing a comprehensive legislative framework to protect children from online risks and harmful digital content. The law applies to internet service providers and digital platforms operating in or targeting the UAE, introduces obligations such as age verification, default privacy settings, content filtering, restrictions on targeted advertising, and bans on gambling-related online games for children, and prohibits the collection or sharing of personal data of children under 13 except under specific conditions. It also establishes a Child Digital Safety Council, chaired by the Minister of Family, to coordinate national policies, monitor emerging digital risks, and strengthen cooperation between government entities and the private sector to safeguard children in the digital environment.
