The Permanent Committee for Human Rights (PCHR) held its 12th meeting with the attendance of the Committee members and representatives of UAE entities to address preparations to review the fourth national human rights report.
During the meeting, members of the PCHR discussed the report, which was delivered to the Human Rights Council Secretariat in February 2023 as well as the status of human rights events, activities, and workshops organized by the PCHR.
The meeting highlighted Committee’s role as an important mechanism for following human rights development in the country and providing a framework for effective cooperation with regional and international organizations. The Committee also stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation with the Universal Periodic Review Mechanism.
The PCHR is the liaison between all UAE entities concerned with human rights. It works to develop and supervise the implementation of a comprehensive national plan; formulate policies, programs, and strategies to raise awareness; build capacity in the human rights fields; and enhance cooperation with other countries and regional organizations, bodies, mechanisms and committees of the United Nations working in the human rights field.
